A custom-built bathtub is, no doubt, the centrepiece of any luxury bathroom. However, we’d contend that having a made-to-measure tub installed is something everyone should consider, if your budget allows it.

First of all, think about how the bath fits into the space. It’s not just a case of its generally being “too big” or “too small”. What about the bathtub that’s “almost perfect”? Is there anything more frustrating than having to settle for near-perfection when a few millimetres more or less could have given you actual perfection?

Putting in a bespoke washbasin will enable you to more effectively plan the space around the basin. Think about the little things, like when you open the bathroom door. If your bathroom sink is in close proximity, you could find yourself only being able to open the door part way without bumping into it. Ideally, you’ll have a washbasin that’s the perfect width and depth for your space.

Choose a custom bathroom company that can also give you those little extra details, like built in towel rails—if you have a smaller bathroom, isn’t it handy to have it right there on the basin rather than taking up more space?

How about the ability to choose whereabouts in the piece of furniture the actual sink is located? Do you naturally reach to the left or the right for the toothpaste? Plan where most of the countertop space will be located accordingly.

If you’re after a real high-end finish to your bathroom, however, or you have very exact size, space and storage requirements, a bespoke bathroom cabinet might be a wiser investment.

You might find yourself looking to restore a beautiful, old piece of antique cabinetry—to turn it into the perfect vanity unit for your new bathroom. You might think that a shower cubicle is a shower cubicle... Aren’t they all much of a muchness? What, exactly, is customisable about a rectangular space with an overhead tap?

Well, not only do some people want that rectangular space to be a very specific size of rectangle—some of them might not want a rectangle at all. So, why should they be forced to have one?

A beautiful walk-in shower with a high-end shower tray should be made to whatever size you want it to be. If you have a large bathroom, you’ll no doubt want a bigger shower tray to really make a statement. If you have a smaller shower room, you’ll likely want to be able to take that size down to its bare minimum to make the most of the available space.
